That’s thinking too far down the line, though. One player who could be intriguing is Lonzo Ball. The Chicago-Sun Times’ Joe Cowley reported that the Bulls intend to try to trade Ball among other players this season.

“A source indicated that the Bulls’ goal is to continue aggressively shopping Ball, Nikola Vucevic, and Zach LaVine, as well as any other name that makes sense,” Cowley wrote.

It is miraculous enough that Ball returned after a layoff that lasted over two years. Ball has not had the best season in his return. He’s averaging 5.4 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.9 rebounds while shooting 37.2% and 34.3% from three. It might just be that he’s working himself back into game shape.

If there’s a team that could use him, it’s the Sixers.

How a trade could work between the Sixers and Bulls
The Sixers need a tall point guard who can play off the ball. When Lonzo was at his peak, he fit that to a tee. Hence, the following trade could work for the Bulls and the Sixers.

Sixers receive: Ball

Bulls receive: KJ Martin, Kelly Oubre Jr., Eric Gordon, Reggie Jackson, Kyle Lowry

That might be a few too many players to be sent away for Ball, but the Sixers would do this trade if they believe Ball can get back to where he was, and it wouldn’t cost them any draft capital.

Ball has been mentioned before as an option for the Sixers. If he can return to the player he was, this is a risk worth taking. They need more playmaking from a point guard who can also play off the ball. He is the jack-of-all-trades point guard that covers plenty of ground.

That is if he ever becomes that player again.
